Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche

Heilig-Kreuz-Kirche is a church building with ornate Neo-Baroque design featuring decorative elements and classical ecclesiastical proportions. The structure displays the architectural style typical of Protestant churches built in the region during that era.

Construction took place between 1925 and 1927, but the project was initiated decades earlier by a land exchange agreement in 1907. This long delay between planning and building shows how the project gradually took shape over time.

The church serves two Protestant congregations and brings them together through regular shared festivals, during which colorful ribbons are strung between the towers. This tradition shows how the building continues to function as a meeting place for both communities today.

Three bells hang in the church tower, with the largest bearing a Latin inscription that resonates clearly across the area. The bells ring at various times and mark important moments for the congregations using the building.

The altar area features an unusual crucifix created by artist Ludek Tichy in 1989 that depicts Christ holding a rose while on the cross. This striking image combines religious symbolism with an artist's personal vision in an unexpected way.
