Church of the Sacred Heart
Church of the Sacred Heart, Parish church in Prenzlauer Berg, Germany.
The Church of the Sacred Heart features large domes and decorated surfaces with interior Byzantine Revival elements and murals by Friedrich Stummel at Fehrbelliner Str 99.
Architect Christoph Hehl, a medieval architecture professor, completed the construction of this religious building in 1898 after 16 months of work.
The murals inside depict Christ Pantocrator in the apse, along with saints including Meinrad of Einsiedeln, Elizabeth of Thuringia, and Teresa of Ávila.
The church maintains regular services for the Roman Catholic community while welcoming visitors who want to examine its architectural elements.
The interior walls display angels carrying Instruments of the Passion, with the eastern transept showing Mary and scenes of faith and miracles.
