Hohler Stein, Prehistoric cave and archaeological site in Böhmfeld, Germany

The natural karst cave features two halls, with the upper chamber measuring 75 square meters and the lower chamber spanning 12 square meters in area.

Archaeological excavations in 1901 led by Max Schlosser from Munich's Paleontological Museum revealed stone tools and bones from Ice Age animals.

The site contains evidence of Neanderthal occupation from 120,000 years ago, with continuous settlement patterns extending through Roman and medieval periods.

The cave entrance presents a natural archway of four meters in height and width, located midway up a slope in the Herrnholz forest area.

Researchers discovered Keilmesser stone tools, mammoth bones, cave bear remains, and woolly rhinoceros fossils within the cave's nine occupation layers.
