Villa Schnetzer, Bauwerk in Deutschland

Villa Schnetzer consists of two protected monument buildings in Kempten at the corner of Immenstädter Straße and Mozartstraße. The main house from 1860 is a two-story structure with a sloped roof, high side walls, and a loggia, while an addition built in the second half of the 1800s contains a room from 1882 created by Munich craftsman Anton Pössenbacher with original furnishings intact.

Wilhelm Schnetzer built the main house in 1860 and gave the villa its name; he operated a cheese factory on the neighboring property that later disappeared. The expansion followed in the second half of the 19th century with the protected room of 1882, showing how the property evolved over decades.

The villa carries the name of the Schnetzer family, who owned the property for many years and were known in the region. The place reflects the life of wealthy families in the 19th century who received guests and held social gatherings here.

The villa is centrally located in Kempten and easily accessible on foot, with public transport and main roads nearby. The property is enclosed by an iron lattice fence, but the garden and some rooms are partially open to visitors, especially where events or exhibitions are held regularly.

The 1882 room was created by Anton Pössenbacher, a renowned Munich craftsman whose furniture and woodwork are preserved in their original state to this day. This interior showcase displays the exceptional craftsmanship of a recognized master and is therefore a rare example of the quality of furnishings from that era.
