Johanneskirche, Lutheran church in Giessen, Germany
The Johanneskirche stands in central Giessen with dark stone walls, light sandstone bands, and the tallest church tower in the city at 72 meters.
Construction began in October 1891, followed by the foundation stone ceremony in May 1892, and the church was inaugurated by Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig in November 1893.
The church features six stained glass windows created between 1960 and 1965 by Erhardt Klonk, depicting scenes from the Book of Revelation.
The church holds regular services on Sundays and operates with open doors for visitors on Saturdays from 11 AM to 5 PM during summer months.
The Walcker organ from 1893, renovated by Förster & Nicolaus in 1968, remains the largest pipe organ in Giessen.
