Jodbad Sulzbrunn, Historic iodine bath in Sulzberg, Germany

Located 20 kilometers southeast of Kempten at 875 meters altitude, Jodbad Sulzbrunn contains four iodine-magnesium springs and two mineral sulfur springs.

The first written record of the springs dates to 1059, when they were mentioned in a document about the episcopal Augsburg hunting district.

In 1923, a black and white documentary film titled 'Eine Perle des Allgäus' captured the architectural structure and its regional importance.

The site features a 30-meter tunnel connecting to a water-bearing gap, providing access to the Roman Spring with water at 7.5 degrees Celsius.

Scientists discovered biofilm stalactites called Snottites in 2014, formed by bacteria that survive without light using methane and iodine.
