The prison complex features a symmetric Neobarock design with a central chapel topped by an onion-shaped dome and four angular buildings surrounding a courtyard.

Built in 1910 as an educational institution for Andechs Monastery, the building was acquired by Bavaria in 1936 and transformed into a correctional facility.

The institution maintains its original architectural elements while functioning as a modern prison, representing the evolution of Bavaria's correctional system through time.

The facility operates with a capacity of 109 inmates and maintains administrative connections with the Landsberg correctional institution for management and supply purposes.

Between 1966 and 1977, the facility specialized in housing inmates convicted of traffic-related offenses, reflecting a period of specific criminal categorization.
