Alfred-Delp-Kaserne, Military barracks in Donauwörth, Germany.
The Alfred-Delp-Kaserne is a military installation in Donauwörth containing multiple administrative buildings, two gymnasiums, and sports fields spread across the site. The complex was originally equipped to support electronic warfare units of the German armed forces with technical facilities for their operational needs.
The barracks was established in 1958 as a home for panzer grenadier and field artillery units of the newly formed German armed forces. Its military mission shifted over the decades until closure came in 2013 as part of a broader defense reorganization.
The barracks bears the name of Alfred Delp, a German resistance fighter who opposed National Socialism during World War II.
Access to the former barracks is limited today as the grounds were repurposed to house asylum seekers following its closure. Visitors should check in advance which areas remain accessible or whether any guided visits are offered.
An air force center for electronic warfare operations remained active on the grounds until July 2015, making it the final military function at the site. This kept the installation strategically important for German air defense operations long after other units had been withdrawn.
