Schloss Eichtersheim

Schloss Eichtersheim is a moated castle in Angelbachtal featuring a sandstone bridge that leads to the main entrance across the water. The property sits within landscaped grounds planted with mature trees and now functions as the municipal administration building.

Construction of the manor began during the 16th century as a private residence and underwent major alterations over subsequent centuries. The municipality purchased the property in the 1980s and converted it for use as administrative offices.

The castle grounds host numerous events throughout the year, including medieval fairs, jousting tournaments, pottery markets, and Highland games.

The grounds are freely accessible during daylight hours for walking across the bridge and through the gardens. The building itself contains municipal offices and is only open during regular administrative hours for interior viewing.

During Whitsun celebrations, thousands of colored candles are lit throughout the castle park creating an illuminated landscape. This annual display transforms the entire grounds into a glowing environment that draws visitors during the festive period.
