Münchsmünster Abbey, Benedictine monastery in Upper Bavaria, Germany.
The monastery complex contains remnants of its original structure, including the west portal of the former abbey church and a modified Forsthaus building from 1688.
Founded around 790 by Tassilo III, Duke of Bavaria, the monastery became a Benedictine establishment under the Diocese of Regensburg in 925.
Archaeological excavations between 1992 and 2012 uncovered foundations of earlier buildings, revealing the architectural evolution of this religious institution through centuries.
The remaining structures of the monastery can be visited during designated hours, with guided tours providing information about its architectural and religious significance.
Three separate churches were dedicated at this location in February 1092, comprising a monastery church, parish church, and small chapel.
