St.Mary's church Bernau

The St. Mary's Church features a four-nave hall design with an ambulatory, incorporating various vaulting patterns including a unified star network in the central nave.

Construction of the church began in the 14th century and continued for two centuries, with an inscription above the pulpit indicating completion in 1519.

The interior color scheme has been restored to match the original 1519 specifications, preserving the medieval decorative elements of this Protestant church.

The church underwent extensive restoration work since 1975, including repairs to the exterior walls, roof structure, tower masonry, and windows.

The current tower, designed by architect Julius Manger in 1846, replaced the original twin-tower structure from the 19th century.
