Kloster Wörishofen, Dominican monastery in Bad Wörishofen, Germany.
Kloster Wörishofen is a former Dominican monastery in Bad Wörishofen centered on a baroque hall church named Maria, Queen of Angels. The church features a high altar and side altars decorated with different types of wood, typical of baroque style.
Founded in 1243 through a donation to the Dominican Order, it received its first sisters from St. Katharina in Augsburg in 1718. Following occupation by French soldiers in 1800, secularization occurred in 1802, yet the sisters were permitted to remain.
The monastery's name reflects the location and medieval religious roots that shaped the community for centuries. Visitors today can sense how the baroque church design created a space meant for prayer and gathering, still evident in the quiet halls.
The former school and boarding house were converted into a health facility in 1981, now operated by Kolpingwerk since 2005. This location functions primarily as a therapeutic facility, so public access for visits is limited.
The monastery retained its church after secularization and the sisters were allowed to stay, though no new novices could be accepted. This exception allowed the place to keep its religious identity while many other monasteries were completely closed.
