Schloss, Neoclassical castle in Uettingen, Germany.
This late neoclassical castle features four identical facades with a two-and-a-half-story structure built on oak piles, surrounded by an 11,000-square-meter English landscape park from the 19th century.
Built between 1818 and 1838 by architect Bernhard Morell for Baron Franz Wolffskeel von Reichenberg, the castle served as a summer residence before becoming a permanent residence from 1850 onwards.
The castle gained historical significance during the German War of 1866 when it functioned as a military hospital treating over 600 wounded soldiers, earning the Wolffskeel family the Knight's Cross of the Bavarian Crown Order.
The castle remains in private ownership and is not accessible to the public, though visitors can view the exterior and surrounding parkland while respecting the privacy of the current residents.
The castle's roof structure features an original preserved laminated wooden beam construction that represents a rare example of 19th-century carpentry craftsmanship in Bavaria.
