Kulturbunker Vulkan, Military bunker in Vegesack, Germany.
Kulturbunker Vulkan is a four-story concrete structure with observation posts on the roof and multiple interior chambers. The building shows thick walls and a sturdy design that reflects its original purpose as a protective facility.
It was built between 1943 and 1944 as a naval bunker to protect shipyard workers during wartime. After the war, the structure was repurposed and transformed into a cultural venue.
Today it serves as a creative space where musicians and artists work together regularly. The location has transformed into a hub for local cultural expression and community collaboration.
The facility is located in Vegesack, a district of Bremen, and is easy to access. Visitors can inquire about viewing the rooms or attending events hosted at the venue.
It is one of ten identical naval bunkers that were constructed across Germany during wartime. This series demonstrates how standardized and systematic military protection structures were designed back then.
