Neunburg was an administrative district in eastern Bavaria that encompassed multiple municipalities under a single regional governance structure. The district had its administrative center in the town of Neunburg vorm Wald, which served as the hub for local government services.
The district was established in 1862 as a regional administrative unit serving eastern Bavaria. It ceased to exist in 1972 when its municipalities were incorporated into neighboring districts.
The district experienced significant demographic changes, starting with 32,396 residents in 1871 and decreasing to 16,530 residents by 1961.
