Founded in 1879, the Mälzerei established itself as a fundamental part of Bamberg's industrial development through its malt production and brewing operations.
The facility maintains traditional Franconian brewing methods while producing specialized malt varieties that supply numerous breweries throughout the region.
Visitors can participate in guided tours Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:30 PM to learn about malt production and beer brewing processes.
The brewery produces its own Rauchmalz using locally sourced barley, which undergoes a specific drying process over beech wood fires.
