Max-Buchhauser-Garten, Sculpture garden and park in Regensburg, Germany.
The Max-Buchhauser-Garten is a sculpture garden and park in Regensburg that spans roughly one hectare between the Europakanal and Frankenstraße. Large concrete sculptures line the north and south sides of the space, creating an open-air collection that visitors can explore on foot.
The site became available after the 1970s construction of the Oberpfalz Bridge removed the original garden facilities and greenhouses that had occupied the land. Max Buchhauser later used this cleared space to display his concrete sculptures.
The garden exhibits 27 sculptures that combine elements from Egyptian, Greek, Roman and modern styles, reaching heights of three meters throughout the space.
The garden sits on the northern bank of the Danube along Route 8, with sculptures visible from the road, bridges, and canal paths. You can view the works from the riverside walkway or enter the grounds to explore them from different angles.
The sculptures were created by Max Buchhauser, a gardener and self-taught artist who worked entirely in concrete. His works blend elements from Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and modern art in an unconventional way that visitors can explore at their own pace.
