Marienkirche is a three-nave church in Büdingen's old town center with a classic Gothic structure featuring pointed arches and ribbed vaults. Slender pillars support the roof inside, while windows allow light to fill the interior space.
The building began as a wooden chapel in 1367 before being replaced by a stone structure in 1377. The most dramatic change came in the late 15th century when it was completely rebuilt and enlarged into its present Gothic form.
The church displays stonemasons' marks on its western facade, left behind by the craftsmen who built it. These marks reflect the guild traditions and working methods of medieval stone workers active in the region.

The west side of the church shows a remarkable detail: several original windows were walled up over the centuries, visible from outside the building. These changes document how the building's use and structure adapted over time.
