Neue Landschaft Ronneburg

Neue Landschaft Ronneburg is an 800-hectare natural space built on a former uranium mining site with pathways, viewing structures, and exploration stations spread throughout. The area features a suspension bridge called Drachenschwanz and replica small mining towers distributed across the reclaimed landscape.

The site was a center for uranium extraction from the 1950s through the 1990s, leaving severe environmental damage behind. Following mine closure, extensive restoration work transformed the area into a publicly accessible park.

The site carries the mark of its mining past in its design and place name, reflecting what once shaped the region's identity. You can observe how the landscape has been reshaped and what this transformation means to the community.

The grounds are expansive and spread out, so wear comfortable footwear and allow ample time for exploration. Information stations and learning paths can be visited at your own pace, with some trails offering varying levels of difficulty.

The grounds feature a specialized learning trail focused on bees and their role in nature, often overlooked by visitors. This path teaches about pollination and ecosystems in a hands-on and visual way.
