Mönchmühle Ravensburg

The Mönchmühle facility stands along both sides of Leonhardstraße, incorporating milling equipment and grain storage structures near Ravensburg's old town center.

First documented in 1312 as part of the Löwental Convent of Dominican Nuns, the mill transferred to Carmelite ownership by 1450 and later to the Schuler family in 1860.

The mill represents traditional grain processing methods in Upper Swabia, connecting local farmers, bakers, and food businesses through regional grain distribution networks.

The facility expanded its storage capacity to 10,000 tons in 2007 with the addition of the Aulendorf grain silo, enabling large-scale grain processing operations.

The mill operated with a Francis turbine manufactured by Escher Wyss AG Ravensburg, using water from the Flappach stream with a flow rate of 300 liters per second.
