Neustädter Kirche, Erlangen, Lutheran church in downtown Erlangen, Germany

Neustädter Kirche is a Lutheran church in downtown Erlangen with a striking tower rising to about 60 meters in height. The tower features four stacked sections displaying different classical capital designs, topped by an octagonal structure.

Construction started in 1722 but was slowed by funding difficulties, with the building finally dedicated in December 1737. The extended timeline reflected common challenges for religious projects of that era, which relied on donations and community support.

The church has been closely linked to Friedrich-Alexander-University since 1837 and continues to serve the university community today. Students and staff gather here for religious services and cultural events throughout the year.

Access is provided through three main entrances, fitted with original locks and hardware from the building's construction era. Inside, the seating is arranged according to the historic layout, giving a sense of how the space was originally organized.

The organ was built in 2004 by Swiss builder Goll from Lucerne, combining new construction with historic components. Spread across three manuals and pedal with 45 stops, it provides a wide range of sounds for services and concerts.
