Puppenmuseum Dresden, Doll museum in Dresden, Germany
Puppenmuseum Dresden was a museum in Villa Romantika displaying more than 500 dolls and accessories, including 35 dollhouses and miniature models in a roughly 120-square-meter exhibition space. The display brought together German-made porcelain dolls, Steiff teddy bears, and other historical toy objects from different periods.
The museum opened in December 2002 in Villa Romantika on Königsbrücker Street in the Outer Neustadt neighborhood. It closed its doors in 2010.
The collection focused on German porcelain dolls, including well-known Käthe Kruse dolls and celluloid figures from the 1800s and 1900s. These objects showed how toy manufacturing became an important part of German craftsmanship traditions passed down through generations.
The museum was located in a residential house in a quiet residential neighborhood and was easily accessible on foot. Visitors needed to check in advance what services or opening times were available, as it was a small-scale museum.
The museum offered workshops where visitors could make doll heads themselves and learn the craft techniques used in traditional German toy production. These hands-on activities gave direct insight into how toys were made in earlier generations.
