Rathaus Bensheim, Town hall in Bensheim, Germany
The Rathaus Bensheim occupies a former episcopal school building positioned at the corner of Kirchbergstraße and Wilhelmstraße. Granite covers the ground floor while the upper stories feature rendered walls.
The building became the town hall in 1984 after the city had used several other locations, including the Rodensteiner Hof from 1945 to 1984. Moving to the former school building represented a significant change for the municipal administration.
The former chapel of the episcopal school now serves as the municipal council chamber and still displays its pointed arch windows. Visitors can see how this space once functioned as a place of worship and learning.
The building serves as the main administrative center where residents can access city services and civil ceremonies such as weddings take place. Be aware that access may vary depending on official events or council meetings.
The roof features a pyramidal shape topped with a square tower and a polygonal stair turret on the north side. These architectural details are clearly visible when viewing the structure from outside.
