Plastik-Park Leuna, Sculpture garden and cultural heritage monument in Leuna, Germany.
Plastik-Park Leuna is a sculpture park and cultural heritage monument featuring more than 30 works created between 1947 and 1967, distributed across a landscaped green area. The collection displays a range of artworks from that period, arranged throughout the well-maintained grounds.
The park was founded in 1922 as Saaleparkanlage and transformed from a wartime flak position and potato fields into an art space under architect Franz Mengel's direction. This conversion of the grounds marks a shift from traces of war to a place of artistic presentation.
The collection displays works by artists such as Theo Balden, Gerhard Geyer, and Fritz Cremer, engaging with working-class themes and socialist ideals. The sculptures reflect how artists of that time understood and approached everyday life and society through their work.
The park is located at Franz-Lehmann-Straße 22 in Leuna and offers free access throughout the year. The grounds connect to the Saale cycling route, making it easy to reach.
The sculptures belong to the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg Halle, while the park grounds remain property of the city of Leuna, creating an unusual division of the art space. This partnership between the museum and the city enables the management and presentation of the works at this location.
