Sankt-Nikolai-Kirche

Sankt-Nikolai-Kirche is a brick church in the Gothic style and one of the largest medieval church spaces in Brandenburg. The interior features soaring vaults supported by sturdy columns, and visitors can climb a spiral staircase to reach the upper gallery.

Construction of the church began in the Middle Ages and was substantially rebuilt following a major city fire in the 14th century. This reconstruction shaped its current form with expanded spaces and new architectural features.

The church became Protestant during the Reformation and remains a center for the Evangelical community in Luckau today. Visitors can sense how this space continues to serve as a gathering place for worship and community life.

The church is located in Luckau's old town and is easily reached on foot. Access to the upper levels requires climbing narrow stairs, and daytime visits are recommended to fully appreciate the interior details.

The ornate organ on the inner wall was created in the 1670s and features decorative figures like King David with angels on its facade. These carefully crafted details represent valuable craftsmanship from that era.
