Schlossanlage Altdöbern

Schlossanlage Altdöbern is a three-winged Baroque château containing 50 rooms adorned with wall paintings and stucco work. The structure includes two towers and sits within an expansive surrounding park.

The palace was built in 1717 by General Alexander Dietrich von Eickstedt on the site of a medieval water castle. A Renaissance structure that previously occupied the location was replaced by this new Baroque building.

The rooms display Saxon Rococo style decorations that Carl Heinrich von Heineken commissioned for the estate. Artists from Dresden worked on these interiors, shaping how the spaces look and feel today.

The palace operates today as a venue for art exhibitions and houses various collections from its period as a manor house. Visitors can explore the rooms and park, though access to certain areas may vary depending on current events.

A concrete foundation slab extends beneath the entire structure to shield it from rising groundwater in the region. This engineering solution protects the palace from moisture damage and represents modern preservation techniques at historical sites.
