Schloss Autenried

The three-story mansion with hipped roof spans 19 by 29 meters and features classical architectural elements on its facade from the early 1800s.

Originally built between 1708 and 1711 by Baron von der Halden on the site of an older fortress, the construction costs totaled 4508 guilders, 5 kreuzer and 5 heller.

The château houses Germany's largest icon museum, containing 2000 icons and 500 decorative objects, making it the most extensive collection outside Slavic countries and Greece.

The eastern section of the property contains the 500-year-old Lower Castle, which underwent renovation in 2009 and now functions as an energy-efficient hotel.

The museum library holds 25,000 volumes, including manuscripts, incunabula, and prints from multiple centuries, while the ground floor contains an Orthodox church.
