Schloss Autenried, Architectural heritage château in Ichenhausen, Germany.

Schloss Autenried is a three-story mansion with a hipped roof featuring classical facade elements from the early 1800s. The eastern section of the property contains the Lower Castle, a structure over 500 years old that now operates as an energy-efficient hotel.

The castle was built between 1708 and 1711 by Baron von der Halden on the site of an earlier fortress. The eastern section with the Lower Castle reveals the even older origins of this compound.

The castle houses a major icon museum that reveals how deeply the region engages with Eastern religious art and tradition. This collection reflects an unusual connection between Bavaria and Orthodox spirituality.

The property contains both a museum and a hotel, allowing visitors to experience it as a daytime visitor or overnight guest. The infrastructure has been modernized while maintaining its historical character.

The museum library holds roughly 25,000 volumes from across several centuries, including rare manuscripts and early printed works. The ground floor contains a functioning Orthodox church that hosts services for the local Orthodox community.
