Schloss Donaumünster

Schloss Donaumünster is a château featuring baroque architectural elements such as curved gables, located along the Alexander-von-Bernus-Strasse in Bavaria's Donau-Ries district. The building displays typical characteristics of southern German castle architecture with its distinctive facades and has been carefully maintained in recent years.

The castle was first documented in 1256 as a fortress of the Knights of Münster and later became the property of the Holy Cross Monastery in Donauwörth. The structure evolved over centuries from a military outpost into a residential dwelling for secular inhabitants.

The castle's name references its position along the Danube and its historical ties to Münster monastery. Visitors can still observe traces of this monastic past reflected in the building's layout and architectural details.
