Schloss Dätzingen

Schloss Dätzingen stands as a four-wing, two-and-a-half-story building with a central courtyard, displaying classical architectural elements throughout its exterior design.

The Johanniter Order acquired the property in the 13th century, with the first documented mention of a brotherhood house at the current castle location in 1263.

The Maltese Hall, created in 1780, contains notable paintings depicting battle scenes and representations of Maltese Order settlements across different regions.

The castle now houses a local history museum, an art gallery, an auction house, and an antique bookstore, making it accessible to the public.

The castle contains the only complete set in Germany of the Les Chasses de Compiègne panoramic wallpaper, designed by Carle Vernet in 1812.
