Schloss Eichenbarleben
Schloss Eichenbarleben, Renaissance château in Hohe Börde, Germany
The two-story corner building of Schloss Eichenbarleben includes a medieval core structure with a round tower and a manor house with hipped roof.
The von Alvensleben family owned the castle from 1453 until 1812, transforming it into a substantial estate with significant architectural modifications between 1702 and 1703.
The château contains rooms decorated with Rococo stucco work, and its church preserves tombs from the 16th to 18th centuries.
The château, sold at auction in 2003 for 15,000 euros, remains in private ownership and requires permission for visits to the grounds.
Gebhard Johann I von Alvensleben installed an observatory with an astrolabe in the castle, marking it as a center for astronomical studies.
