Schloss Holdereggen

Schloss Holdereggen is a castle in Lindau-Äschach built from red sandstone with two towers, bay windows, and a terrace featuring an outdoor staircase in Neo-Renaissance style with English-Norman influences. The architectural design combines classical elements with distinctive regional characteristics.

The land was first recorded in 1497 as Holderegk, but the castle itself was built between 1887 and 1890. Entrepreneur Hermann Näher commissioned architect Georg von Hauberrisser to design and construct this structure.

The castle has served as a music school since 1951 and shapes the local cultural life. Musical activities regularly take place inside, enriching the offerings for residents and visitors.

The castle park is open to the public for walks, though the building itself is used for music lessons. The location on Holdereggenstraße 238 in the Lindau-Äschach district is easily accessible by car.

The red sandstone blocks came from a specific quarry near Landstuhl, giving the building its distinctive appearance. This choice of material was deliberate and continues to define the castle's unique character today.
