Schloss Kummerow, Baroque château in Kummerow, Germany.
Schloss Kummerow is a two-story baroque château with a footprint of around 3,000 square meters, featuring galleries and pavilions overlooking Lake Kummerow. The structure displays typical baroque design with symmetrical facades and spacious interior rooms.
The current château was completed in 1730, replacing an earlier castle destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. This reconstruction occurred during a period when the region was gradually recovering from wartime devastation.
The Hall of Mirrors contains original wall paintings that show how the room was decorated for important social gatherings of the nobility. Visitors walking through can still sense the grandeur of these formal occasions.
The château is located near Bundesstraße 104, which connects Lübeck and Szczecin, and can be reached by bus from Malchin. Its position by the lake makes it easy for visitors to explore the surrounding area.
After serving as a quarantine camp, primary school, and municipal office for decades, the château was transformed into an art gallery in 2011. Today it displays photographic collections showcasing contemporary artistic work.
