Landestrost Castle, Renaissance castle in Neustadt am Rübenberge, Germany
Landestrost Castle exhibits architectural elements of the Weser Renaissance style with its characteristic towers, fortified walls, and north wing completed in 2014.
Between 1573 and 1584, Duke Eric II of Brunswick-Lüneburg constructed this castle as his administrative headquarters and renamed the town Landestrost during his reign.
The Department of Culture organizes events in the restored ballroom, while the castle foundation Kulturregion maintains the historical preservation since 1997.
The castle contains multiple institutions, including a local court and the Dupres sparkling wine factory, which has produced sekt in the cellar since 1888.
The garden design reflects its original concept, providing views across the Leine river meadows and connecting to nature trails for hiking and cycling.
