Schloss Lauterbach

Schloss Lauterbach is a three-story manor house with a distinctive tower-like roof lantern, set beside a central pond. The building features symmetrical rooms and layouts typical of Saxon estates, with surrounding garden spaces enhancing its setting.

Construction began between 1704 and 1706 under Hans Gustav von Kirchbach, with the manor completed in 1708. The property changed hands several times over the following centuries and underwent various alterations to adapt to new uses.

The castle displays a collection of over 3,500 badges and regional artifacts across its rooms. Visitors can explore these items to understand how people lived and worked in the area during different periods.

The castle grounds are accessible from the nearby road and can be viewed from the exterior. Wear sturdy shoes when visiting since the gardens have uneven surfaces and can become muddy after rain.

Leopold Carl von Palm added the distinctive roof lantern in the mid-1700s, giving the manor its castle-like character. This architectural addition transformed what was originally a simpler house into something more impressive.
