Schifffahrtsmuseum Nordfriesland

The Schifffahrtsmuseum Nordfriesland displays ship models, historical documents, and maritime artifacts across four floors in a 1902 building at Husum's inner harbor.

The museum, established in 1988, preserves a Dutch merchant sailing vessel that ran aground near Husum approximately 400 years ago.

The exhibition rooms present information in four languages - German, Danish, English, and French - reflecting the international maritime connections of North Frisia.

The museum opens daily from 10:00 to 17:00, with exhibits including a full-sized bridge from the 1960s where visitors can observe ship departure simulations.

In the basement, a cargo sailing ship from 1600, known as the 'sugar ship', undergoes preservation in a sugar water solution.
