Schlechteberg is a mountain in Ebersbach-Neugersdorf that rises to approximately 485 meters and is covered by mixed forest vegetation. Residential areas and various facilities are located around the base of the summit.
The mountain area developed in the early 1900s when an Alpine garden was established in 1912 near the peak to cultivate and display mountain plants. A historic lodge from that era still stands on the mountain today.
The Humboldt lodge, constructed in 1912, functions as a local history museum, presenting exhibits about regional development and natural heritage.
The mountain can be reached via a new access road from the B96, with parking available near the water house. The routes are easy to access and suitable for different types of visitors.
An observation tower from 1998 crowns the summit and after climbing about 100 steps offers wide views across the Upper Lusatian mountain landscape. From the top, visitors see how the forested ridges rise above the surrounding lowlands.
