Saint George Church, Simultaneum church in Wachenheim, Germany
Saint George Church is a shared-use church with late Gothic features and a prominent tower in Wachenheim. Its interior holds three baroque altars made of gray Wattenheim sandstone, created in the early 1700s.
The tower sections date back to the 12th century, marking the early beginning of the structure. After a division in 1705, Catholics took over the choir area and a partition wall was installed in 1715.
The church is shared by Protestant and Catholic congregations in one space. This shared use shows how two religious communities can worship in the same building.
The church is accessible during the Herb Market in May, Heritage Day in September, and concerts by the support association on Advent weekends. Plan your visit around these events to experience the building during active community use.
The interior displays fragments of medieval frescoes and ceiling paintings created by local Wachenheim artists. These works combine different architectural styles and periods within a single structure.
