St. Georg auf dem Berge

The St. Georg auf dem Berge church features solid stone walls, rounded arches, and thick pillars following traditional Romanesque construction methods.

The church originated in the 10th century during the mission to convert local Polabians, who had established a central sanctuary on Ratzeburg island.

The altar, dating from early periods, received a baroque addition in 1720, incorporating a crucifixion group flanked by allegories of faith and hope.

The church maintains regular religious services and hosts concerts, including 'Das Kleine Konzert' series throughout the calendar year.

The Klaus Becker mechanical organ, installed in 1973, contains 25 registers across two manuals and pedals.
