St. Godehard, Gothic Revival church in Linden-Limmer, Germany.
St. Godehard is a Gothic Revival Catholic church located on Posthornstraße in the Linden-Limmer neighborhood of Hannover. The building features three electric bells installed in 1950 that produce deep tones sounding across the district.
The church was destroyed during an air raid on October 8, 1943, and subsequently rebuilt between 1949 and 1950. This reconstruction allowed the building to regain its original exterior form.
The congregation expanded significantly after World War II when Catholic refugees arrived from East Germany. This growth shaped the community's identity and later influenced how the interior was adapted.
The church is easily located on Posthornstraße in the Linden-Limmer district. It welcomes visitors to experience the Gothic Revival architecture up close and offers a quiet space for prayer or reflection.
The church celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024 with a week-long festival featuring religious services, historical exhibitions, and concerts. These celebrations highlighted its continued significance to the local community.
