St. Jacobi Werther

St. Jacobi Werther is a Gothic church featuring a single-aisle nave covered with ribbed vaults and lined with semicircular wall templates. The interior layout creates a clear vertical structure that guides the eye toward the altar area.

The church was built in the 14th century on the site of an earlier religious structure from the 9th century. Religious worship at this location therefore spans more than ten centuries of continuous history.

The stained glass windows in the choir were created by Berlin's Royal Institute for Stained Glass and showcase the craftsmanship of the period. These windows shape how light fills the altar area and define the character of the sacred space.

The western side of the building is dominated by a prominent tower that can be seen from far away due to its height. Visitors should allow enough time to explore the interior calmly and take in the architectural details.

The western tower incorporates stones and structural elements from the 13th century and rises 44 meters high. This makes it the tallest structure in the town and often surprises visitors who underestimate its age.
