St. Peter Kirche, Church building in Heidelberg, Germany
Saint Peter's Church features a neo-Gothic architecture with a three-aisled nave, late Gothic chapel, arched choir, and western tower situated in Heidelberg's old town.
The church, first documented in 1196, predates the city of Heidelberg and served as the main parish church until the construction of Holy Spirit Church in the 14th century.
The interior walls display 150 epitaphs of university professors and electoral officials, including the tomb of Renaissance scholar Olympia Fulvia Morata.
Visitors can access the church between April and October on weekdays from 10:00 to 14:00, with nearby bus stops at Universitätsplatz and Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage.
The church grounds functioned as Heidelberg's primary cemetery until 1844, preserving numerous historical graves and monuments from past centuries.
