Church of St. Jakob, Frankfurt am Main

The Church of St. Jakob is located at Kirchplatz 9 and features a square tower with wide windows that flood the interior with light. The inside is designed as a hall church, creating an open and bright space.

The first church on this site was built in 1365 by monks from St. Jakob Monastery in Mainz. It was constructed on what had previously been a Frankish burial ground.

The stained glass windows here were created by Charles Crodel and feature floral designs that make the interior feel like a garden space. You notice right away how the light streams through these windows and shapes the mood inside.

The church is easiest to visit on weekdays, and you should be aware that certain areas may not be accessible during services. Wear good shoes as the floor can be uneven in some spots.

The organ was built in 1982 by Förster & Nicolaus and features 23 registers spread across two keyboards and pedals. This instrument shapes the sound experience during services.
