St. Peter and Paul is a church in Bad Camberg built between 1777 and 1781 with architecture characteristic of that period. The interior features marble, colored stucco, a large period chandelier, and ceiling paintings throughout the space.
The church tower originates from construction in 1580 that followed an earlier tower which had collapsed. The present church building was then erected about 200 years later.
The church displays handcrafted details on its walls and vaults that were carefully executed by artists of its time. Visitors can still see traces of these works when looking around the interior spaces today.
The interior can be explored on foot and shows furnishings like old confessionals and choir areas that date from the construction period. It is best to move slowly through the space and observe details on all sides.
The ceiling paintings were created by Joseph Ignaz Appiani, a court painter from Mainz who is little known today. His works significantly shape the impression of the interior and are worth observing carefully.
