St. Martin, Medieval parish church in Linz am Rhein, Germany
St. Martin Church stands at the highest point of Linz, featuring a three-nave pillar basilica with late Romanesque and Gothic architectural elements.
The construction of St. Martin began in 1206, and the church received its consecration in 1214, marking over eight centuries of continuous religious service.
The church walls display monumental paintings from 1240-1250, including scenes of pilgrims traveling toward Santiago de Compostela along the Rhine route.
The church remains open for visits from Monday through Sunday between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, offering guided tours about its architectural heritage.
The Gnadenstuhl panel painting in the southern aisle depicts God the Father holding Christ, commissioned by Tilman Joel for the town hall chapel.
