St. Martinus, Gothic Revival church in Erkelenz, Germany
The St. Martinus church featured a 35-meter bell tower at the southern corner and contained a single aisle with three bays in the nave.
Built between 1906 and 1907 by architect Heinrich Renard, the church replaced a medieval structure that had stood in the area since the 12th century.
The interior displayed eighteen stained glass windows created after World War II, with several pieces designed by artist Maria Katzgrau in the 1940s.
The church provided seating for 150 people and standing room for 100 additional attendees until its closure in November 2014.
The building was dismantled in 2016 to make way for the Garzweiler surface mine, with its bells transferred to a new chapel in Borschemich-neu.
