Templerhaus Erbach, Medieval building in Erbach, Germany

Templerhaus Erbach is a timber-framed building from the late 14th century with visible wooden framework and a solid stone foundation. The construction with its diagonal wooden beams shows the typical medieval building technique used in this region.

The house was built in 1378 and served as a Burgmannshof, a residential building for noble families who defended the surrounding territory. Its survival until today makes it a rare witness to medieval settlement patterns in the Odenwald region.

The building displays the architectural style that prosperous families favored during medieval times and shapes the character of Erbach's old town. From its construction, you can understand how people lived then and what craftsmanship they mastered.

The building is located in central Erbach and is easy to reach on foot, with the exterior visible at any time. Since it is a protected monument, visitors can view and photograph the facade and structure from outside.

The structure is one of the oldest surviving timber-framed houses in the Odenwald region and displays construction methods that vanished elsewhere long ago. Its craft details in wood and stone offer insight into the skills of medieval builders.
