Tratzenzwinger, Medieval defense tower in Mitte, Nürnberg, Germany.

The Tratzenzwinger stands on Schütt island at the meeting point of the Pegnitz River branches, connected to the towers Schwarzes Z and Blaues A.

Originally built in the late 14th century, the structure underwent expansion in 1548 and required substantial reconstruction between 1994 and 1996 following World War II damage.

The tower received its name from Johann Mathias Dratz, who operated a tavern within the fortress structure until 1824.

Modern visitors can explore the structure, which now houses the Krakauer Haus, containing a travel agency, restaurant, and official representation of Krakow city.

The northern semicircular defensive wall contains a pedestrian tunnel, known as Kassemattentor, which was created through the fortification in 1848.
