Teufelsmühle, Historical mill structure in Geiselbach, Germany.
The Teufelsmühle is a mill complex with multiple buildings distributed along a stream in the Teufelsgrund valley near Geiselbach. Today a restaurant uses the historic structures on the site to serve regional cuisine to visitors.
In the 18th century three mills operated at this location, known as Lower, Middle, and Upper Devil's Mill, according to historical maps. These mills shaped the valley for generations and formed the economic basis for settlement in the area.
The mill represents traditional craftsmanship in the Spessart region, showing how communities once relied on water power for daily grain milling. Visitors can still see traces of this local trade in the building layout and construction along the stream.
The site sits in a rural valley and is easily accessible for walkers who wish to follow the stream. The restaurant building provides shelter in bad weather and serves as a good base to explore the surrounding area.
Some original timber-frame beams from the structure were removed in 1949 and reused in a house in nearby Dörnsteinbach. This relocation shows how old materials were valued and preserved in the region rather than discarded.
