Unikatum is a children's museum in Leipzig with multiple spaces filled with interactive exhibits where young visitors explore various subjects through hands-on activities. The rooms are arranged so that experimenting and discovering are at the center of the experience.
The museum was founded in 2010 by exhibition planner Annegret Hänsel, who has run it on a voluntary basis since. It occupies the refurbished building of the historic Café Goetz at Zschochersche Straße 26 in Plagwitz. A major expansion in 2017 added space for several exhibitions, a courtyard garden and the Museumscafé Goetz. In 2012 it received the Saxon Prize for Socio-Cultural Involvement, and in 2014 first place in Leipzig's Family-Friendliness Award.
The building is the historic Café Goetz on Zschochersche Straße 26 in Plagwitz. Each year pupils help devise and design the new annual exhibition in a summer workshop. The Museumscafé Goetz also serves as an exhibition space, for instance for "Inventing the Future".
