Trinitatiskirche Mannheim, Protestant church in Mannheim, Germany
Trinitatiskirche Mannheim is a Protestant church building with modernist architecture from the 1950s. The interior features expansive glass and exposed concrete surfaces without supporting columns, creating an open and light-filled space.
Built between 1956 and 1959 by architect Helmut Striffler, it replaced an original church from 1709 that was destroyed during World War II. This reconstruction represented the postwar renewal of the religious community.
The colored windows from Loire in Chartres show biblical scenes and moments from Jesus's life, shaping the feeling of the interior. They invite visitors to pause and reflect as light fills the space.
The building now functions as EinTanzHaus, hosting contemporary dance and interdisciplinary performances since 2017. Check in advance for scheduled events to plan your visit properly.
American architecture critic Kidder Smith once called the building Europe's most beautiful religious structure. This international recognition established it as a remarkable example of postwar modernism.
